“DE SUR A SUR” TRUCA CIRCUS’ NEW INTERNATIONAL PROJECT

Truca Circus joins this special collaboration between La Grainerie (Toulouse) and Circada Festival (Seville)

On February 14, the call was open for five Andalusian artists to be part of De Sur a Sur, the new Truca Circus project, which will premiere at the Lope de Vega Theater on December 22 and 23, 2022, and travel later to Toulouse, in January 2023. This show will be an international co-production based on the lines of collaboration opened between the Circada Festival (also organized by Noletia, the company that manages Truca Circus) and the European Production Center La Grainerie, one of the most important circus spaces in Europe and around the world.

On behalf of Truca Circus we will be in charge of the production and co-creation of the project, beginning with the selection of five Andalusian artists, who will join another five from La Grainerie’s orbit. Our artistic director for this project is Ana Donoso Mora, who will work side by side with the Frenchman Albin Warette and who is currently directing the show 361ºgrados of Proyecto Tránsito, in company with Clara Reina, interpreter of our show Neon.

As described in the call, the selected artists, both on the Andalusian and French sides, will participate in a creation laboratory in June in Seville, in which they will also have the opportunity to share several sessions with cultural management professionals and circus agents, from both countries. Subsequently, in November, rehearsals will begin in Toulouse, which will later move to Seville before the premiere at Teatro Lope de Vega. Performances will be held in January at La Grainerie and the show is scheduled to go through Anfitrión Festival in the summer of 2023.

Circo de Sur a Sur has the support in Andalusia of Lope de Vega Theater in Seville and the Andalusian Agency of Cultural Institutions of Junta de Andalucía. On the French side, the European Production Center of La Grainerie has the collaboration of the Erasmus+ program, the Toulouse City Council, the French Institut Français and the Regional Council of Occitania. In addition, this Circada-Truca Circus-La Grainerie collaboration is part of the cooperation agreement between Seville and Toulouse City Councils.

The call will be open until March 13, 2022. For more information, consult the complete bases of the call.
